Best description of depression… or is it the best description of an depressed Empath?

I’ve seen the below link a number of times touted as the best description of depression.

What immediately struck me was it was a very good description of an Empath (a depressed one.)

Well worth a look.

  1. I really like Hyperboleandahalf, it is great how she always manage to convey the idea on being depressed and allow people to resonate through both her words and the spot-on drawings. I agree that it becomes difficult to keep up on some days when all you feel is nothing on the inside, but just for the purpose of appearing ‘normal’ you try to mechanically put on socially appropriate emotions when interacting with people. I wonder if that is why some of the best comedians are in fact depressed in secret? And do empaths get overwhelmed with the emotions they receive, so they overcompensate and block out everything, and become unable to truly feel their own emotions?

    1. Yes, they certainly can do. In fact, they shut down, and feel nothing. That’s a very critically bad stage to be in. It’s clinical depression.

      1. Thanks Gary. I have been reading some of your posts and believe I use to have some empath traits but have since lost it. It may explain why I am depressed.

  2. certainly like your web-site but you need to test the spelling on seevral of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it very bothersome to inform the truth on the other hand I will surely come again again.

  3. I’ve always had a way of understanding others on a very deep level. When I was young and single and dating, men especially seemed to find annoying because I’d call them on their BS! 😀 Not long ago, I started channeling dead people (or that’s how it feels to me anyway. Otherwise I have no idea where this info is coming from). I recognize that I have to be very careful not to hold on to their negative energy.

This narrative in particular, was difficult for me (as you will read…IF you read it…:D) I am not sure which came first, either…. it was sort of a chicken/egg situation. Well, read it and you will understand…
