Paranormal experiences series: The original version of Wuthering Heights or what the…

The Kick Inside

I’ve found that my as I get older, I find it easier to forget things. This is mostly because there is so much information coming in now that it’s just not possible to retain it all. It’s as though everyday has a heap of new things that I should remember, but I can’t because something else comes in right away after to remember, too.

Still, I’ve found that my childhood memories, especially when it comes to music, are still very strong and accurate.

Music is how I time stamp my memories. Songs will bring back feelings and emotions of the time, and often bring tears to my eyes.

So, when an anomaly turns up, I sit up and take notice.

I’ve already discussed the Say My Name incident, and how somehow it was a different artist singing that song, or at least to my memory.  And while I’m prepared to say that I was simply wrong, it does bring up a similar incident that happened back in the mid to late 70s.

Before going to sleep, as a preteen, I would listen to the radio, and the songs I heard back then remain in my memory to this day, even the obscure ones that no one else seems to remember nowadays.

One song I recall, though for no particular reason, was Wuthering Height.  Like most songs at the time, it was just there, with no real attraction. I didn’t hate it, but wouldn’t have gone out of my way to get it. Not that I could afford to buy any records back in those days anyway.

In 1978, Kate Bush released her first single, Wuthering Height, and I thought to myself, at the time, I prefer the original version and I said as much.

The version I knew was sung by a female artist who had a much lower voice, which was reminiscent of someone like Karen Carpenter. Unfortunately, I don’t know who sang that  particular version.

Over the years, in the back of my mind, I resolved that one day I was going to look that version up, and get hold of it.

Sometimes it takes a few decades for me to get around to doing something (seriously!) and one day in the noughties, I decided to finally do it.

However, I soon found that it wasn’t possible.

The problem was that there was no original version. Kate Bush had written this song in 1977, and she was the original artists.

I’ve checked this fact a number of times, wondering if I had got my information wrong somewhere, but it is correct.  There was definitely no version of that song before Bush.

To hear a song that does not exist, several years before it is released raises some interesting question. The biggest one being: How?

Still, one can be forgiven for thinking that maybe I was mistaken or have a faulty memory (though, as I said, my memory of music is uncannily clear from my childhood.)

Even if I did agree with you, this was not the only thing of that nature that occurred.

Paranormal experiences series: Switching videos or I know I’m getting older but…

Cover of "Holler/Let Love Lead The Way [U...

So, I decided to go looking for a music video that I had seen back around the year 2000, that I wanted to see again.  While YouTube certainly has many detractors, one can’t deny that it’s a wonderful source for finding those obscure and lost songs you thought you’d never hear again.

The video in question was Say My Name by The Spice Girls.

When it was released, I saw it while I was waiting in the waiting room of the doctor’s office where the television was showing the top 40.  Video was average, but I liked it.

So much so, that the next week, I was back in the same place, same time and I waited for the video to be shown, and it was. So I watched it and enjoyed it and Say My Name was firmly cemented in my mind.

But wait a minute, Gary, you might be thinking. Destiny’s Child sang Say My Name, not the Spice Girls.  You must be mistaken.

And normally I’d agree with you. However, when it comes to music, which was an obsession of mine, I do tend to remember songs pretty clearly. I associate memories and feelings with songs. Every other memory I have of music videos and songs is accurate.

When I heard Destiny’s Child’s version of Say My Name, I thought to myself that I liked Spice Girl’s better. They somehow had put more into it. I also assumed that The Spice Girls had done a cover version, as it was clear that the song was attributed to Destiny’s Child.

So,  as I was watching something on YouTube, Beyoncé was mentioned, which reminded me of the video I liked, and so I did a search for it… and came up empty.

No problem, I thought, though I did have a sinking feeling that something wasn’t right. So, I searched every possible way to try and find even a mention or vague reference to it. There was nothing. I checked out the official video by Destiny’s Child, but that was nothing like the one I saw, and of course, didn’t sound like the version I remembered either, plus I was certainly I had not seen that video before either.

I know my memory isn’t that bad when it comes to music. I can remember words and songs from when I was a very young age, and should I look them up, I find I remember them almost verbatim.

Upon further investigation, I found the song Holler, which contains that video, but the music is different.

In fact, I do not recall ever hearing that song before.

I mused that maybe both videos followed each other, but the release timing seems to be out for that, at least for two weeks in a row.

As a one off situation, I would put this down to faulty memory.

But… is it a faulty memory or something more? I’m prepared to say, yeah, faulty memory, but then, there were other incidences in my life that make me wonder… and that leads to some intriguing stories.

Those will be explored next time.

Empath Series: Reading people or I know you better than you know yourself.

One of the more useful abilities of being an Empath that I’ve found over the years is the ability to read people.

Now, this is a skill everyone has to some degree, and this can be seen in movies that have been well casted. You can immediately tell the type of person, and their personality, on sight. You know if they are a villian, the hero or someone who is sleazy.

Empaths can often take it a step further in real life, as they can see, not only the type of person they are dealing with, but how that person is likely to react, and if they are dangerous or not.

The Face

For instance, just by looking at a face, you can normally tell someone’s history, their personality, and their disposition. If they have suffered trauma, what their mood is, and so on.

There are books dedicated to how to read faces, but I never felt a draw to them and over time, I started to become more in tune and sensitive to what a face was telling me.

The Voice

A person’s voice also reveals a lot about someone. I know that when I pick up a phone at work, the moment the person speaks, I know if they are going to be demanding, friendly, difficult or clueless.  Rarely I’m disappointed in what I am picking up, and can pre-empt a lot of issues by adjusting accordingly.

It’s generally in the tone, the pitch, the forcefulness, and the words which gives it all away. It’s not what they say, it’s in the voice they are using that reveals it all.

The Name

Even a person’s name will tell you a lot about their character. It is possible to pick up the vibration of names and sense the energy behind it. Names are very important, and you can change your personality by changing your name. People will also react differently to you, depending on what name you decide to go by.

I found these  abilities developed naturally as I got older and gained life experience. There are nuances you come to recognize, and certain patterns that occur time and time again.

While I’m sure that anyone with experience can read people, I believe that there are levels that Empaths pick up that the average person does not.

The problem with most people is that they ignore this information. They dismiss it, figuring that they must be wrong, or if others can’t see  it, then they are just imagining it.

Personally, I have felt frustrated time and time again because no one listens to me, or says, hey, you can’t say that without knowing someone. And yet, I’m rarely wrong.

When someone asks me for help, I often ask for a current photo as that tells me a lot, and a sensitive person will also see the energies connected to the person at the moment. And they will also see when the energies change. For instance, if someone is under attack, there will be a greyness around the face, but if it clears, the greyness will also go.

If you have the ability to read others, and you know you have it, listen to what you get. Trust in it. It could even save your life and a lot of distress one day.

Empath Series – Bach Flower Remedies – Why I like them, or is this the Mary Sue of Remedies?

English: Woman looking at Bach Flower remedies...

I talk about the Bach Flower Remedies a lot. You might call it an obsession, and perhaps you’d be right.

But there is a good reason for that. They do work, and, choosing the right ones can perform what seems like miracles.

Going into details about the remedies, and the knowledge I’ve gained, is something I will be doing over the course of time.

There are thirty eight of them (not including the more famous Rescue Remedy ® and Rescue Cream. ®

I will look at all of them over time, but let’s just quickly discuss they I love them so much.

They are non-toxic.

They are non-addictive.

You cannot overdose or take the wrong ones. You simply will feel no effects if you do not need them.

They heal the cause of the problems, not the symptoms.

They are cruelty free.

Because they are vibrational in nature, they do not interfere with other medications or other forms of treatment. And by vibrational, I mean they heal on a level that is emotional / spiritual… and yes, I know that sounds newagey, airy fairy, castle in the sky stuff, but take me from me, it’s a fact.

They are easy to take.

They are cheap. One bottle can cost around 8 dollars if bought online, and can last for literally years. The use-by date generally is 10 years, though they can last indefinitely if the alcohol preserving them is good quality.

They work either ingested orally or rubbed on pressure points, such as your wrists. (wonderful if you can’t tolerate alcohol.)

The healing they provide is of a permanent nature. Once you are healed, you stay healed, until life and its events distresses you again.

While they are designed to be easy to self-diagnose, the skill lies on knowing what the cause of the problem is. That is not always obvious. Experience and knowing oneself is the key here.

They work on plants, animals and children.

They are a complete healing system.

They can work within moments. The more you take them, the more attuned you become, and the quicker the results.

The only downside is that you cannot mix too many of them together at once. Conventional wisdom says that you should not mix more than seven at a time.

I say that four is optimum, and they should be remedies that complement each other.

The good news is that I discovered that you can break the seven remedy limit if you take them one at a time instead of mixing them. There is no limit to how many you can use them.

Not only can you cure depression, but you can cure other conditions. For instance, I have used them to stop asthma.

The theory is that by treating the cause, you heal the problem.

Dr. Bach said: Treat the patient, not the dis-ease.

Personally, I don’t think I would be able to function without them in my life. They have pulled me from the brink way too often, and I’m sure it would have taken years of intense therapy to otherwise recover.

As I said, I will cover them all, but in the meantime, if anyone has questions, please ask and I will answer them.

Best description of depression… or is it the best description of an depressed Empath?

I’ve seen the below link a number of times touted as the best description of depression.

What immediately struck me was it was a very good description of an Empath (a depressed one.)

Well worth a look.

Q&A – A connection to nature or the trees talk to me, but I don’t listen to them.

realm of the nature spirits (Photo credit: AlicePopkorn)

If you have any topics you want to know more about, please ask.

This week’s question come from J, a wonderful person I know from the Empath Support Forums.

She asks.

When you talk of setting boundaries, does it work with something like plants? Do all psychic empaths feel the vibrations from plants? Like they perhaps do from animals?

I’m not into nature worship or wiccan rituals etc. etc. However, I had a huge tree for a friend when young but after someone came and cut it down, I was too traumatised to have a friend that ‘died’ so easily and could do nothing to protect itself despite its size. I stuck to humans after that, often with disastrous consequences. I’m usually fairly oblivious to the vibrations from trees and plants. I don’t pay attention to them (the vibrations). However, recently, one night, I came down with a strange heaviness across my back and shoulders, which seemed to weigh steadily, steadfastly. I could not find a reason for this pain, which was very peculiar, sort of diagonal in its spread. Early next morning, during my walk in the park, my body was pulled in a particular direction where I saw a slightly delicate plant almost flattened out by a thick branch of a big tree around it, which had fallen on it, diagonally. The pain in my back and shoulders grew as I walked around the place. It got unbearable and I sensed that it sort of reached me from the plant that now lay almost prostrated. I managed to get rid of the heavy branch with some help, restored the smaller tree to some of its normal posture and gradually the pain in my back and across my shoulders eased off.  Within an hour it was gone. I’m glad i was able to help out ‘a tree in need’ but one needs to have boundaries or there would be too much of an encroachment upon oneself with physical manifestations in terms of some illness or the other. Any thoughts on this?

-J

Thanks, J.

In my experience and studies, I find that plants and animals are very different in energy to people. For those who are sensitive, they can see the energies around trees, flowers, etc, and for those who are seers, they can sense and see what we call nature spirits, and what others call fairies, etc.

Are they real? You bet your bottom dollar they are.

The main difference between the human collective consciousness and that of nature’s collective consciousness is that they are very much aware of their oneness with all. Nature has a voice, and much wisdom is there for those who are capable of hearing.

As bizarre as this might sound (and without seeing your photo), some people are nature spirits incarnated into human bodies.

If you sense a resonance with trees and plants, chances are you are connected in some way to those levels or to the Gaia energy.

You are clearly very sensitive when it comes to nature energy. Having a tree for a friend is not something too many have as a child in my experience. Also, you are extremely psychic, which tends to be another sign.

While nature can look after itself quite nicely, it does call for help. Though its destiny cannot be perverted or prevented, it does seem it calls on others to assist from time to time.

Personally, I feel this was a wakeup call for you. It was to make you aware of your connection to nature. Boundaries certainly can be set, and you can ask to be left alone, but I don’t feel this is what you should do in this case.

There is another world out there… an amazing and powerful world of wisdom, healing and evolution. If you can re-connect to it, it can be a great blessing in your life, though also be aware that it can increase the sense of isolation from being human.

An excellent series of books on this topic has been written by Michael J Roads. It might well be worthwhile looking him up.

Just remember, just as nature can draw on your help and energy, it can also give you energy, and healing, and a sense of peace and oneness.
